Organised by Siam Hotels & Resorts, Pattaya People Media Group and the Thailand Guitar Society, the third annual festival boasts an impressive list of guest artists, luthiers and students from the US, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, the Philippines and Thailand.
The event will kick off with the adult and junior guitar competitions at 9:30am, followed by a guitar exhibition at 1pm, the Thailand Guitar Society student concert at 2pm, an afternoon concert with virtuoso star Hitoshi Miyashita at 4:30pm and a master concert with Woratep Rattana-umpawan, Santi Kaewjai and the Wong-Kojorn Guitar Quartet _ a new group of experienced musicians from Bangkok _ at 6pm.
The day will culminate with a spectacular concert at 8pm, featuring the expert strumming of Leon Koudelak, Monching Carpio, Tomonori Arai and Paul Cesarczyk.
First prize in the adult competition is a guitar valued at $3,000 (92,400 baht), made by the world renowned Indonesian luthier Hanief Palopo. Proceeds from the festival will go to the Father Ray Foundation that cares for more than 850 orphans, street children, blind children and young disabled adults.
Admission fee is 500 baht (400 baht for students), inclusive of coffee breaks.
