Then he rejoined Dusit in January 2011 as General Manager of the Dusit Princess City Centre, Dubai before being transferred to Dusit Thani Bangkok as Hotel Manager in December 2011.

Pattaya, Thailand - The World Oceans Day recognised by the United Nation (UN) as an opportunity to celebrate and improve the health of the world’s oceans. Held every June 8th, the World Oceans Day is an event where people around the world celebrate, protect and honour those bodies of water which link us all. Many global organisations, and thousands of individuals from around the world are taking their parts in the World Oceans Day to show their supports as well as increase the awareness of the importance of the world’s ocean in people’s daily lives by showing them ways to improve their impact on the ocean, for example, reducing CO2 emissions.

In Thailand, there is a small boutique hotel in Pattaya, the dusitD2 baraquda pattaya that has been trying to extend their well support towards the oceans by organising a campaign called ““The Release of baby clownfish to their Home Reefs” together with a group of volunteered divers in 2010 in honour of the World Oceans Day which later was recognized & awarded the first place winner at the ASEANTA Awards of Excellence 2011 in the category of Best ASEAN Conservation Effort.

The example initiative is all intended not only to encourage people in their own community, especially Pattaya, to think about what the ocean means to them, as well as what it has to offer all of us with hopes of conserving it for present and the future generations, but also to remind everyone to act as a caretaker of our oceans by making small modifications to our everyday habits that can greatly benefit our oceans.

Once again this year, the organisers are trying to encourage people to reach out to young people in their community and help inspire them for the 2011-2012’s theme Youth: the Next Wave for Change by organising a similar activity. The hotel organise a trip to nearby islands to release about 100 baby clownfish into the waters & unoccupied sea anemones by 30 volunteer scuba divers. The Clownfish are provided by the Percular Farm in Sattahip, Thailand’s first and biggest clownfish farm which started breeding clownfish in 2001 with the intention of protecting wild marine fish from extinction.

The first time ever in Thailand and South East Asia rooftop film festival opened its curtain on Friday 3rd February 2012 showing renowned contemporary German films. dusitD2 baraquda pattaya staff led by the General Manager (or "Guru" in dusitD2 speak) Mr. Michael Ganster visited the Camillian Centre (which provides relief for orphans & disabled children) in Ladkrabang, Bangkok on 7 December 2011. The energetic dusitD2 staff were eager to continue their social outreach program and jumped at the opportunity to visit the centre and learn more about the work being done there. The team was greeted and welcomed by Mr. Faisal, a volunteer from Canada, who spoke to them to enhance their understanding. He took the time out of his busy day to do this himself in order to ensure that the dusitD2 staff got the right message. After that session, dusitD2 staff got together with kids from the centre jumping around on the floor and playing games. In additional to that, dusitD2 baraquda pattaya also donated 20,000 Baht to the centre. “What dusitD2 baraquda pattaya contributed to the centre today was priceless, it’s not just the money or the gifts, it’s the sincerity that dusitD2 staff brought and expressed to us that we really appreciated. We all really had a great time.” said Peter, a 14-year-old boy who has down syndrome. So many questions, but here at dusitD2 baraquda pattaya we focus on one only … what are we going to do about it? And as a dusitD2 belief “Action counts more than words.” 

The management & staff of dusitD2 baraquda pattaya led by Mr. Michael Ganster (General Manager) welcomed 12 kids from the Camillian Home – Relief for children living with Disabilities and HIV/AIDS to experience a 5-star hotel experience on 27 September 2011. 

Apart from a luxury night stay in hote’s spectacular rooms, kids were delightfully treated with a fun hotel tour, a cake decoration activity and delicious dinner at the s.e.a restaurant. All kids were all excited and impressed with activities dusitD2 staff provided. As Jack, one of the HIV/AIDS living teenager said “This is our first hotel experience, my friends and I truly enjoy everything the hotel put together for us.”

Camillian Home is a registered non-profit children's charity operating on behalf of the St. Camillus Foundation of Thailand in the area of Lat Krabang, Bangkok. 

The Home was initiated by Father Giovanni Contarin, an Italian Priest who has done extensive work for the poor in Thailand over the past 25 years. It targets orphaned children who are not only living with HIV/AIDS but who are also disabled – physically, mentally, or both. Managed by the St. Camillus Foundation of Thailand, children are brought up and taught values based on their own beliefs and cultural backgrounds. Everyone is free to express and follow their faith, whatever it may be.
