Pattaya Daily Update - News & Event Update Pattaya: More in March with award-winning films at the outdoor Pattaya Rooftop Film Fest 2012

Pattaya Daily Update - News & Event Update Pattaya: More in March with award-winning films at the outdoor Pattaya Rooftop Film Fest 2012

Pattaya, Thailand – The Pattaya film festival 2012, jointly organised by dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya hotel, the Goethe-Institute Thailand and BMW -- in honour of the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany, has run into its second half.

The outdoor-style festival has been applauded and well received by both Thais & foreigners for being innovative in bringing German films to screen on the Rooftop Lounge of dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya. The first time ever in Thailand and South East Asia rooftop film festival opened its curtain on Friday 3rd February 2012 showing renowned contemporary German films. Four out of nine outstanding German films have been screened and viewed by hundreds of movie lovers.

The remaining five festival weekends will feature the final five, not-to-be-missed German award-winning & most celebrated films which are:

• Cherry Blossoms (Friday 2 March)

• Knallhart (Tough enough) (Friday 9 March)

• Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run) (Friday 16 March)

• Ein Freund von mir (A friend of mine) (Friday 23 March)

• Das Leben der Anderen (The Life of Others) (Friday 30 March)

In particular, the "must-see" films of this festival are the acclaimed “Cherry Blossoms,” “Run Lola Run” and “The life of others.”

“It is such a brave initiative of dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya in bringing foreign film to the city, especially German films. I have been in the film festival industry for almost a decade, organising film festivals in Bangkok, travelling to many international film festivals around the globe and I can proudly say that the Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival is one of the coolest film festivals I have ever attended.” said, Mr. Kriengsak (Victor) Silakong, Festival Director of World Film Festival of Bangkok. Mr. Silakong continues “Not only the amazing nine films that are wisely chosen by the Goethe-Institute to screen, but also the unique character of the venue – Sunset Lounge, that gives a little extra touch to the event. I am even planning to use dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya to be one of the venues to showcase my 10th anniversary celebration campaign of Bangkok World Film Festival in November this year.”

Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival has been acclaimed to be South East Asia’s first rooftop al fresco style movie experience aiming to promote German Films to German speaking residents who reside in Pattaya as well as to attract those who are interested in the German language & culture.

As one of the audiences Dr. Iain Corness stated, “I, as an anglophile, have a well entrenched idea of the German psyche. Some German people can be remote, distant, aloof and have no sense of humour. After one evening of the Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival, I have had to seriously alter my opinion. My wife and I attended the opening night at the dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya and saw a movie called “Good Bye, Lenin”, by Wolfgang Becker. One of the most moving, humorous and yet poignant pieces of cinematography, it has been my good fortune to watch. In addition to the movie, we also enjoyed the cosy ambience of the venue – Sunset Lounge. This ultra chic lounge really works its magic in making the movie more enjoyable. ”

A complete range of German films will be shown each Friday night for the next five weeks at the dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya in their rooftop lounge. The films are (naturally) in German, but all have English sub-titles. No admission fee will be charged, guests can simply enjoy a selection of delightful drink packages available on each night.

Pattaya Daily Update - News & Event Update Pattaya: Pattaya International Fireworks Competition 2011

Pattaya International Fireworks Competition 2011

The Pattaya International Fireworks Competition will be taking place again this year on December 16th & 17th at Pattaya Beach. Fireworks will be displayed from teams around the world including: Thailand, Italy, USA, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Japan, China, Australia and Germany. There will also be a fireworks display that will span over 3 km in honor of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday coming on December 5th.

Buddha knows that there are fireworks all year round in Pattaya for one reason or another and sometimes for no reason at all but the Pattaya International Fireworks Competition is really a sight to behold and can be seen from almost everywhere in Pattaya. The beach is a great spot to watch the fireworks but it’s generally very crowded, other great spots include Pattaya viewpoint looking down on Pattaya beach and any hotel balcony above the 5th floor facing the beach.

As well as fireworks you can bet there will be lots of great Thai food on offer up and down beach road as well as refreshments and trinkets to buy and probably a few concerts set up at strategic points.

The Pattaya Fireworks Competition is a great night out to share with friends and family so be sure not to miss it!
