Pattaya, Thailand – Pattaya’s trend-setting & leading design hotel – the dusitD2 baraquda pattaya — in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut and the Embassy of Germany will host what is set to become the first rooftop film festival in South East Asia — “Pattaya Rooftop Film Fest 2012.” This special event is in honour of the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany. Selected renowned German films will be displayed at the hotel’s rooftop lounge during February and March 2012.
The opening ceremony & press conference will be held on Friday 3rd February, 2012, at the Sunset Lounge of dusitD2 baraquda pattaya. VIPs, including His Excellency Dr. Hanns H. Schumacher, German Ambassador to Thailand, Mayor of Pattaya, Mr. Itthiphol Khunpuem and the director of Goethe-Institut, Dr. Norbert Spitz will attend.
Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival will be South East Asia’s first rooftop al fresco style movie experience. The inaugural festival aims to help elevate the image of Pattaya City on beyond its long-held reputation as one of Asia’s nightlife destinations as well as to promote German Films to German speaking residents who reside in Pattaya as well as to attract those who are interested in the German language & culture.
The festival is poised to become a highlight for cinema lovers in the Eastern Seaboard Zone, not only due to the trendy setting on the beautiful rooftop lounge of the dusitD2 baraquda pattaya, but also because of the high quality programme of renowned contemporary German films. Among the must-see films of this festive are the acclaimed “Goodbye Lenin”, “Four Minutes” and “Run Lola Run“.
The 7-week long festival will showcase 7 of Germany’s most celebrated films which are:
• Goodbye Lenin
• Soul Kitchen
• Das Leben der Anderen (The Live of Others)
• Four Minutes
• Status Yo!
• Cherry Blossoms
• Run Lola Run

The Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival starts Friday 3rd February and runs until Friday 2nd March 2012 on every Friday night. No admission fee, guests can simply enjoy selection of delightful drink packages available on each night.
