Standing 70 metres above the ground on a wooden platform built around a tree trunk, you can see for miles across the jungle canopy. Then you let go, and fly Tarzan-like along a zip line to the next tree. This is the Flight of the Gibbon.

There are 26 platforms, reached on 3km of zip lines, or by climbing spiral staircases, crossing wooden bridges and abseiling from the treetops. To get round the whole course can take three hours depending on the number in your party (maximum nine). There’s a clear and simple safety talk before you start on a ten minute trek to the first platform. This is the most strenuous part of the day, but still fairly gentle, and they say anyone from 5 to 90 can handle this experience.

Flights leave at 8am, 11am and 2pm, and if you travel independently you need to get there half an hour before to fill out the necessary forms and make the trip by songthaew up into the hills to the start point.

The price of B2,999 includes access to Khao Kheow Open Zoo, a meal and water. You can also stay overnight as part of the two day package, which includes night safari and an elephant trek.

Coming from Pattaya it’s around 40 minutes drive (look for signs for Khao Kheow Zoo just north of Sri Racha). Otherwise, Flight of the Gibbon can arrange pick ups from either Pattaya or Bangkok, see box below for more details.

dusitD2 baraquda pattaya staff led by the General Manager (or "Guru" in dusitD2 speak) Mr. Michael Ganster visited the Camillian Centre (which provides relief for orphans & disabled children) in Ladkrabang, Bangkok on 7 December 2011. The energetic dusitD2 staff were eager to continue their social outreach program and jumped at the opportunity to visit the centre and learn more about the work being done there. The team was greeted and welcomed by Mr. Faisal, a volunteer from Canada, who spoke to them to enhance their understanding. He took the time out of his busy day to do this himself in order to ensure that the dusitD2 staff got the right message. After that session, dusitD2 staff got together with kids from the centre jumping around on the floor and playing games. In additional to that, dusitD2 baraquda pattaya also donated 20,000 Baht to the centre. “What dusitD2 baraquda pattaya contributed to the centre today was priceless, it’s not just the money or the gifts, it’s the sincerity that dusitD2 staff brought and expressed to us that we really appreciated. We all really had a great time.” said Peter, a 14-year-old boy who has down syndrome. As Mr. Michael Ganster said, “It was certainly a great & meaningful day for all of us and I am confident that the dusitD2 staff now have a much better understanding of the problems and will continue to support this centre throughout the year as our social care project”.
