Sport Event Update Pattaya: Asiaroom.com - Honda LPGA Thailand 2012 Golf Tournament coming to Pattaya

January 23rd, 2012 – Pattaya’s Siam Country Club will be the venue of the Honda LPGA Thailand 2012 golf tournament, which takes place between February 16th and 19th.

A total of 60 of the world’s leading female golfers will be competing over 72 holes as they pursue a prize pot of $1.5 million (£965.82 million).

Competitors will include high-profile players such as Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Hee-Won Han, Suzann Pettersen and Ai Miyazato, as well as 2011 winner and reigning champion Yani Tseng.

Unique to this year’s tournament will be a charitable purpose, with sponsors Channel 7 and Honda joining with LPGA players to launch an online auction to raise funds for victims of the recent Thai floods.

Various players have contributed personal golf items and apparel for the auction, which will be sold off before the end of January.

Mr Pitak Pruittisarikorn, director of Honda’s Asian operations, said: “The Honda LPGA Thailand 2012 is a great opportunity to show the world that Thailand is ready and able to welcome visitors to the land of smiles again.”

The Honda LPGA Thailand has been running since 2006 and has been renewed until at least 2014.

Golf enthusiasts can choose from a large selection of Pattaya hotels at AsiaRooms.com, such as the Premier Signature Pattaya.
