News Update Pattaya City: Hilton Pattaya marked 2nd Annual Participation in EARTH HOUR TOGETHER, WE CAN SAVE THE PLANET 

PATTAYA, Thailand – March 31, 2012 – Hilton Pattaya lead by Mr. Harald Feurstein, General Manager, recently organized ‘Earth Hour 2012 activities, at Welcome Lobby from 830pm until 930pm.


This year will mark Hilton Pattaya’s second annual participation in Earth Hour, making it one of the international hotel chains in Pattaya to make a global statement with a voluntary hour of darkness. The staff and management team, all joined together for a memorable and fun experience to switch off the lights of Hilton Pattaya. Activities included turning off exterior signage lighting; dimming non-essential interior lighting; using candlelight in appropriate public areas such as restaurants and bars, switching off equipments, all in offices and some areas in the kitchen.

Hospitality News Update: Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa will be in the dark for an hour to support ‘Earth Hour’ on Saturday March 31st



There will be a dark scene on Saturday March 31st, 2012 when, for one hour, between 20.30-21.30 hrs. Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa will be switching off its exterior lights, in support of the World Wildlife Fund’s ‘Earth Hour’. Guests at Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa who pledge not use electricity, in their rooms, during Earth Hour will be given a seed package.

Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) held on the last Saturday of March and asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances, for one hour, to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

Earth Hour also marked the start of Marriott International’s Environmental Awareness Month. Running throughout April, the event aims to celebrate the company’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations, raise awareness of environmental issues, and involve associates in environmental activities.

PATTAYA, Thailand – March 20, 2012 – Hilton Pattaya plans to mark Earth Hour 2012 from 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, March 31, 2012 as people and organizations around the world turn off their lights in support of action on global climate change. Hilton Pattaya and many of the more than 3,800 hotels that are part of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of brands are expected to take part in the event that will mobilize more than one billion people worldwide. 

“We are pleased to join in this global effort that galvanizes organizations and individuals around the world to symbolically switch off their lights in support of energy conservation, “said Mr. Harald Feurstein, General Manager. “We encourage our guests and neighbors to join in on the movement,” Mr. Harald Feurstein added. 


Earth Hour will be celebrated at Hilton Pattaya through a variety of activities including:

· Countdown to Earth Hour with big electricity cut-out together at Welcome Lobby

· Light candles together and transform to be 60 shape

· Guests participating in Earth Hour activities will receive a certificate of recognition

· Enjoy ‘Happy Earth Hour’ at Drift

· Candle lights experience in all restaurants

· Completely switch off all lighting on all unoccupied floors (Inclusive of hotel’s logo)

· All spotlights illuminating the hotel building will be switched off during the hour

· Dimming hotel lighting by 20 per cent

· Air conditioning adjustment to 27 Celsius degree during the day and switch off completely for one hour

Organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Earth Hour began in 2007 as a way for individuals to show how simple steps can make a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gases and addressing climate change. The event has turned into a movement. More than 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour 2011 alone, sending a powerful message for action on climate change. It also ushered in a new era with members going “Beyond the Hour” to commit to lasting action for the planet.

One activity which happens annually since 2007 and has claimed wide recognition around the globe as a positive action towards environmental concern is “Earth Hour”. Earth Hour is all about protecting the planet and saving the energy by uniting humanity in “lighting out” action.

This year’s Earth Hour falls on the 31st March. One hour of lighting out action spreads all over the planet at 8.30 p.m. local time. Households, businesses, landmarks and public places in over 135 countries and territories will be seen joining forces in this largest display of environmental action.
